WEDNESDAY V LENT: the freedom of the Spirit of God

“So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.” (John 8:36)

I will fulfill these duties at fixed times, but with that freedom of the Spirit of God which will allow me, according to the advice of Saint Francis de Sales, to adapt to whatever circumstances require.

Eugene de Mazenod Diary (Rey, Vol. I, p. 26)

REFLECTION

Lord in heaven, I pray that as I begin this day you would be with me. I open my day to your leading. I thank you in advance for the freedom that is found in your presence. Lord I ask that your peace be before me as I come and go throughout my day. I pray that you would show me the places where I can share your peace with others. I pray that you would guide me away from temptation and keep my mind free from the corruption of this world. I long to walk in the freedom that you give! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

One Response to WEDNESDAY V LENT: the freedom of the Spirit of God

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Lay Oblate says:

Every morning I arise and come to sit here with my God, with the Beloved and it is in that way I am free to be as I have been created…

I will spend this morning with the others in the Long-Covid Clinic, for it is not something that I can miss even though I would wish to be a part of the conversation with Fr. Chicho and the others – this is what the circumstances require today. God will have to provide me with all that I need.

My life is no longer my own, for I have given it over to God and in that there is the greatest of freedoms… There is within me a deep contentment that carries me even through the times that I try to retake the reigns of my life. The Beloved is always here for me – I need only to turn and look for Jesus to once again gather me into a tender embrace, setting me free to simply ‘be’.
