PUT YOUR CONFIDENCE IN HIM IN WHOSE NAME YOU ARE SENT

Thursday of the Third Week of Advent

Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,

he will prepare your way before you.

Lk 7:29

Put your confidence in Him in whose name you are sent and be persuaded that He will bless your obedience and pour most abundant graces upon the work of your ministry…

Letter to Father Frédéric Perron at Grace Dieu, England, 25 August 1845

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Lay Oblate says:

There is no guessing required here to see the connection between the messages of Jesus and St. Eugene for each is like a continuation into and with the other. A flow… Jesus explaining who John the Baptist was, as prophesized by Isaiah and Eugene then picking up the next steps of how we can be affected and live by/with them.

Over the past two days members of our Provincial Leadership Team have spent time with us, and using 3 main events in our lives as a Province, have led us through our shared experiences of being sent, the challenges, the sheer hard work, our imperfections and yes sins, and the experiences of forgiveness, compassion and continuing on without giving up on God or ourselves.

I dare to say that God over the course of the two days did bless our obedience and we did receive a certain solace through all of it as we looked once again at the many joys and sorrows, our shared graces and sins of our family history and our own lives. I shared with another that our time together was directed and led by the Holy Spirit, and that it was a time of great hope and joy as we prepared to return to our daily lives and moving forward to enlarging our tent.

The messages conveyed by Jesus and St. Eugene this morning are not just of the past couple of days or a part of history, I am taking them as being deeply personal for all who might be struggling or being presented with challenges big and small in the coming days.

My way is being prepared before me, only because I choose to see it in this light of hope being shared by Him in whose name I trust…
