One Response to JOIN THE WORLDWIDE MAZENODIAN FAMILY FOR A MOMENT OF PRAYER

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Oblate Associate says:

What does this look like, this life of discipleship? What does it look like without receiving accolades and applause? When no titles have been accorded, no medals awarded?

I am reminded of Mary Immaculate and mother to us all. “Let it be done unto me according to your word.” And so began her life of discipleship with a “spirit of being wholly devoted to the glory of God, the service of the Church and the salvation of souls.”

Mary who gave birth to Jesus in a stable, giving the Saviour of the world to those who came to witness his birth, the animals, those who tended to the animals and reciving those who brought with them priceless gifts to be laid at the feet of a helpless babe. Mary who told the servers at the wedding at Cana to do whatever he [Jesus] told them so that the owner would not be humiliated at running out of wine to serve at his feast. Mary who stood at the foot of the cross, allowing her self to be given to the world as Mother. Mary spent the remainder of her days, walking and being a light to her neighbours’ feet and then being assumed into heaven.

I am reminded of the words from Constitution 10: “Mary Immaculate is patroness of our Congregation. Oen to the Spirit, she cnsecrated herself totally as lowly handmaid to the person and work of the Saviour. She received Christ in order to share him with all the world, whose hope he is. In her we recognize the model of the Church’s faith and of our own.” Oblation and discipleship.

St. Eugene de Mazenod, pray for us.
