THE DESIRE I HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO MAKE HER KNOWN AND LOVED (C10)

Wherever our ministry takes us, we will strive to instil genuine devotion to the Immaculate Virgin who prefigures God’s final victory over all evil.  (Constitution 10)

On his 72nd birthday, after a lifetime of being Mary’s son, he wrote in his will:

To this end, I invoke the intercession of the Most Holy and Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, daring to remind her in all humility, but with consolation, of the filial devotion of my whole life, and of the desire I have always had to make her known and loved, and to spread her devotion everywhere through the ministry of those whom the Church has given to me as children, who have had the same desire as myself…

Eugene de Mazenod’s will, 1 August 1854, EO XV n. 191

Those whom the “Church has given to Eugene as children” – the Oblate Charismatic Family  today – continue to make Mary known and loved as the first Cooperator of the Savior.

One Response to THE DESIRE I HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO MAKE HER KNOWN AND LOVED (C10)

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Lay Oblate says:

Long before I ever heard the words “Constitutions and Rules” I met met the Oblates of Mary Immaculate but I figured she was like a “silent partner” with them – only because I did not hear about her from the ones I met so many years ago. She, well my devotion to her was a daily thing – not talked about yet the “Hail Mary” became a part of my breathing in and breathing out.

Since I have started out on a long journey of healing she has become a mainstay – not replacing Jesus, but helping me to focus on him in a much deeper way. I had made her as an image rather than taking her into myself.

Now she is there with me and I am able to understand Eugene’s devotion to her. She has led me to Him who is our Beloved , our crucified Saviour. There are not a lot of words as it is more a sense of being.

It strikes me that this may be what heaven is like – with love that goes deeper than words and doing. It would seem this is a new way of living and doing and most of all being…

Now leave all of you for another day to perhaps meet together in prayer…
