CONSTANTLY SEEKING NEW WAYS OF DARING TO PRESENT THE GOSPEL (Constitution 8)

To seek out new ways for the Word of God to reach their hearts often calls for daring; to present Gospel demands in all clarity should never intimidate us.

Constitution 8

The description of his preaching by the great evangelist, John Wesley, can easily be applied St Eugene as well: “’I set myself on fire, and people come out and watch me burn.”

The history of the Oblate Charismatic Family’ history of “lighting fires” is filled with amazing stories of constantly seeking new ways to reach people “through the eyes of the Crucified Savior.” I refer you to Oblate websites whose pages are regularly filled with stories about the amazing different ways of Oblate evangelization today.

One Response to CONSTANTLY SEEKING NEW WAYS OF DARING TO PRESENT THE GOSPEL (Constitution 8)

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Lay Oblate says:

I find my mind racing through the names and images of members of the Oblate Charismatic Family: those I have read about in Eugene’s time, those throughout the past 200 years and the ever growing numbers in the present time. The call from God which reawakens us is never meant to be just for us alone, but rather to be shared with the World.

During COVID19 we were forced to find new ways of being rather than simply doing. We dared to use technology to “keep in touch with” all those we love and those we have been sent to accompany. Through the Holy Spirit we became innovative in ways to meet and be with each other using technology to keep in touch and to take part in giving formation to new people wanting to join our family.

These daily reflections which invite and inspire us to go deeper than what is “enough”. And it is not just the OMI Constitutions and Rules (the living expression of the Charism that is shared with all of us) but all that is shared (i.e. OMIWorld News and stories. These daily reflections of how Eugene shares with all of us – in today’s world.

Constant reminders that we do not have to do this alone for we are part of a much larger family.

Studying and praying with the OMI Constitutions and Rules helps us to realise how we are all “…a part of all that we have met” (Ref. Ulysses by Tennyson)as we are reawakened to find ways that work in today’s world. It is our burning hearts that become filled with daring as we find our own gifts and ways of sharing. I look for a moment at Mary, Mother of God who was also daring and who helps us to find our way to Jesus. She is our Mother…
