MARY AS MODEL AND MISSIONARY GUIDE
Reflecting on the zealous achievements of his missionary family, Eugene exclaimed:
What is remarkable is that these marvels are accomplished by our men who attribute to Mary Immaculate all these great things
Letter to Fr Hippolyte Courtès in Aix en Provence, 11 January 1847, EO X n 920
REFLECTION
“Mary Immaculate… received Christ in order to share him with the world, whose hope he is. In her, we recognize the model of the Church’s faith and of our own” (OMI Constitution 10)
Mary, teacher of faith, who by your obedience to the Word of God cooperated in a remarkable way with the work of redemption, help us to listen to the Word and to put it into practice today.

“Mary, teacher of faith…”.
“Mary as Model & Missionary Guide…”.
God calls each of us and sends us out, with the Communion of Saints, with God’s own Mother to accompany us; along with the Holy Spirit and our sisters and brothers.
It is about tearing down the superficial walls and boundaries, letting go of the many things we have held onto in order to feel good about ourselves. As new doors are opened to us we might find ourselves pursuing and running from darkness towards the light that shines upon all of creation, even the parts that we might not like or know. We opt not for standing out above the crowd, but rather for being in “communion with”.
We are invited into a deeper and fuller relationship with Mary Immaculate, allowing ourselves to being drawn into. This is who God has given to us, along with our Founders, teachers and brothers and sisters. No matter the regents of our Church and their rulings, all is possible with God and so we allow our hearts to be shared with many.
We thank God even as we yearn for more and to share that which we are given with all those we continue to meet.
