EASTER SUNDAY: “We announce the liberating presence of Jesus Christ and the new world born in his resurrection” OMI Rule C4

Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples,
‘He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.’

Matthew 28: 7

After journeying with him through the sad event of his Passion, after weeping over the torments that our sins made him endure, how consoling it is to see him rise triumphant over death and hell, and what gratitude must fill our hearts at the thought that this good Master has really willed to make us sharers in his resurrection, destroying the sin that is in us and giving us a new life.

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Lay Oblate says:

    A Blessed and Joyful Easter!

Last night at the Vigil I found myself focusing on the nine catechumens who were received into the Church, becoming full members…, these beautiful young people who I have accompanied on their journey to the Sacraments… New life – and we rejoiced with them as they received the Sacraments for the first time.

Together we experienced and were renewed in the that a most special way that comes with the Easter celebration of death and new life. The cross and death along side of the resurrection – each a part of the other, never to be separated… one flow as symbolized in the Infinity symbol.

“He is going before you to Galilee and there you will see him”. A return to where it all began, but now with the new life as stated in Constitution 9 – “…born in his resurrection”. Becoming prophets of this new world, as called by God, making “us sharers in his resurrection… and giving us new life”.

Today may be a day of easter egg hunts, but it is also a day of quiet joy and small gifts of flowers…, of a deeper joy of life and love. The plain wooden cross of Good Friday, now radiant in the reflected light of the Easter Resurrection.

Perfect description, Eleanor. Later that afternoon, I said I felt “giddy”. Daughter, etc probably thought I was “giddy with wine”, having given it up the past weeks. But, no. Resurrection Sunday fills my heart and whole being….and I try harder each year to keep that hope burning within me in the midst of man’s inhumanity to all. St. Eugene, fill us with love and help us pray for hope.
