THURSDAY V LENT: your love stands firm forever

“I will maintain my covenant with you and your descendants after you throughout the ages as an everlasting pact,
to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.” (Genesis 17: 7)

Let us keep on praying, let us never waver in trusting God completely.
It is He alone who has the right to decide and arrange all things, according to His infinite wisdom, and for the greatest glory of His holy name.

Letter to Father Tempier, from Rome, January 20, 1826.

REFLECTION

I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.

I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

Psalm 89, 2-3

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Lay Oblate says:

    A love that is before time and creation began. “I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.” My mind can barely face the love that God is; for I am filled with an awe and wonder that is too brilliant for me to see without shading the eyes of my heart. For some reason as I think of this I want to fall to my knees in a surrender that involves every fibre of my being.

    It scares me a little, for I have not experienced this as I do in this moment…

    A small glimpse of heaven, for it is not about me, but rather as Eugene wrote it is all about God, it is all about the “glory of God’s holy name.”

    “…Your love stands firm forever and past the ends of time…”
