For a few moments my thoughts go back to the birth of Jesus, and Mary holding her baby. Offering him to the world to see. “Let it be done unto me according to your word.” And now here she appears; holding her son who has died not of old age, or by accident. Rather he gave himself up for all of us. Her oblation begetting that of Jesus’.
Never have the words of this constitution touched me so deeply as they do right now with this beautiful piece of work as their backdrop. Perhaps I need to simply sit with them both for awhile before returning to the world’s daily demands. Let us all sit together as we wait…
