I can’t help but feel we all have so much to give thanks for, especially the community(s) that God has given to us. Most specially for St. Eugene sharing with us his spirit, his charism, his way of life. I pause for a brief moment and wonder where would I be if Eugene had not said yes and given his all as asked of by God? It is not that God would not have a plan for me, but rather a sense of this is what began and who God used, who He chose for me – there is immense joy and pride in that. 200 years of a very specific way of being, a way of looking at the world.
Imagine – 200 years of a way of being. I get excited when I think of celebrating more than 65 years of life, or 36 years of sobriety.
I give thanks to God for all that we have received. I am so very grateful and give thanks to Eugene, his oblation and to all Oblates whose life and mission has brought us to where we are today.
I begin each morning with the Lord’s Prayer. I think of it now. 200 years of life and mission. “Give us today our daily bread…” 200 years of life and mission – here I am nourished.
A special thanks to you Frank, for creating this sacred space where we come to learn and reflect, to pray and share . For so many of us, this is where we begin, and nourished and focused we move into our daily lives. Thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving.
