1818, November 1. The missionary community becomes a congregation of religious priests and brothers who make vows to live the evangelical counsels.
It is necessary that we understand, now more than ever before, the necessity of being perfect religious in order to be good missionaries. We need to be persuaded that the most efficient means of ensuring abundant harvest in souls is the holiness of our lives and the faithful practice of all the duties of our state.

Today meditation is short and clear. It words reflect the spirit of the time. And yet as I ponder them, they continue to ring true. In fact they will ring true in all seasons for this “I” sense is a spiritual truth. As I read from the sages from the East and from the “Yogic Tradition”, it is about faithfulness to the practice. Luke 9:61-62 Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family.” But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”
