“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my savior”

The Mighty One has done great things for me,
    and holy is God’s name.
God’s mercy is from age to age:

    Please note: there will be a pause in these reflections until February 8.

In the meantime, I draw your attention to Fr. Fabio Ciardi’s reflections on our international website: http://www.omiworld.org/en/content/news/3506/a-year-with-st-eugene-and-his-oblates/

  1. Eleanor Rabnett, Oblate Associate says:

    I spent the night singing lines from the Gloria – each time I awoke I was singing “Glory to God in the highest…” and I would roll over, thank Eugene very softly and go back to sleep. Quiet but deep contentment and gratitude filled me then just as it does now.

    I would have thought that I would be more exuberant this morning – 200 years since Eugene began all of this. All of the lives he has touched, the invitations he has extended and the hearts he has shared with. I am intensely proud to be a member of the Mazenodian Family, to be an Associate, to have found a place where my heart and spirit belongs, shared with so many others.

    I keep thinking of his words – “we must lead men [and women] to act like human beings, first of all, and then like Christians, and finally, we must help them to become saints.” A way of being that after 200 years still resonates within me, and in so many others.

    I keep thinking how apt it is that this should fall on the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul – who was himself such a great missionary.

    My soul does proclaim the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit does exalt in God my Saviour. For the mighty Lord has done great things for me and holy is his name. A joy-filled and blessed Feast Day to all.

  2. Rudy Nowakowski OMI says:

    Deo gratias! Thanks be to God on this special Oblate anniversary!
    On this anniversary and feast of St. Paul, may St. Eugene’s love of Jesus Christ and missionary spirit fill and expand our Oblate hearts, minds, and souls.
    Deo gratias!
