{"id":6128,"date":"2025-08-29T01:00:05","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T23:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eugenedemazenod.net\/?p=6128"},"modified":"2025-08-28T21:28:51","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T19:28:51","slug":"chew-the-word-of-god-c7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eugenedemazenod.net\/?p=6128","title":{"rendered":"CHEW THE WORD OF GOD (C7)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>Our mission puts us on constant call to respond to the most urgent needs of the Church through various forms of witness and ministry, but especially through proclaiming the Word of God\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px; text-align: right;\"><em>Constitution 7<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>\u00a0 In proclaiming the Word, it is our tradition to be simple and direct and to speak a language adapted to and easily understood by our hearers.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Rule 7g\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Saint Eugene\u2019s life was dedicated to explaining the Good News of salvation to those who were most in need. He and his missionaries wanted to\u00a0 produce listening hearts that would transform their lives. The invitation he wrote in 1818 continues today:<\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>Our one and only aim should be to instruct people <\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>not only to break the bread of the Word for them but to chew it for them as well;<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>in a word, to ensure that when our discourses are over,<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>they are not tempted to heap foolish praise on what they have not understood,<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><em><strong>but, instead, that they go back home edified, touched, instructed, able to repeat in their own family circle what they have learned from our mouth<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Rule of 1818<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>We are so blessed today to have many commentaries and reflections available to help us to understand the Word of God and to be able to \u201cchew\u201d it so that it becomes an integral part of our lives.<\/h3>\n<h3>Like Eugene, let us make Scripture reading and the <em>Lectio divina<\/em> a part of our daily lives.
