When Eugene contemplated his religious family, he recalled his own vocation. He had experienced the Crucified Christ as his Savior and understood that he was being called to be His co-worker: to journey with others in their search for meaning and happiness.<\/p>\n

In the first Rule of his Missionary Family, he defined us in this way:<\/h3>\n

They are called to be the Savior\u2019s co-workers, the co-redeemers of mankind.<\/strong> <\/em><\/h3>\n

\nThat is quite a \u201cjob description!\u201d On the day of our baptism each of us was \u201cclaimed by Christ the Savior.\u201d As Christians it is part of our DNA to be the co-workers of the One we belong to. In our everyday lives we are invited to see in every person and event, the invitation to be the co-workers of the Savior. We are not called to heroics, but to realize that in a simple smile, a helping hand, a word of encouragement or apology we are co-workers.<\/p>\n

St Teresa of Avila understood this when she wrote:<\/h3>\n

\u201cChrist has no body but yours,<\/em>
\nNo hands, no feet on earth but yours,<\/em>
\nYours are the eyes with which he looks<\/em>
\nCompassion on this world,<\/em>
\nYours are the feet with which he walks to do good,<\/em>
\nYours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\n

\nAs we will discover, while we explore the book of the Constitutions and Rules, that it is our manual of how to achieve this ideal.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
