{"id":3648,"date":"2018-03-12T05:00:42","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T03:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eugenedemazenod.net\/?p=3648"},"modified":"2018-03-12T00:28:00","modified_gmt":"2018-03-11T22:28:00","slug":"being-able-to-say-be-imitators-of-me-as-i-am-of-christ","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eugenedemazenod.net\/?p=3648","title":{"rendered":"BEING ABLE TO SAY: \u201cBE IMITATORS OF ME, AS I AM OF CHRIST\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote>\n<h5><strong>Always the obligation to retrace Jesus Christ in our persons: We will meditate especially \u2026on the virtues of our Lord Jesus Christ, for these should be obvious in the life of our members.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Retreat notes, October 1831, EO XV n. 163<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Virtues are those qualities which give meaning to our lives, that give us \u201csalt\u201d and \u201clight\u201d and help us to become \u201csalt\u201d and \u201clight\u201d for others.<\/p>\n<p>The second Letter of Peter clarifies what a virtue is \u201cmay grace and peace be yours in abundance through knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord\u201d (2 Peter 1:2). It is knowledge of God. It is looking at the life and qualities and attitudes of Jesus\u00a0 &#8211; it is allowing ourselves to be transformed by the one who says \u201cCome, follow me.\u201d And \u201dYou are my friends if you do what I command you.\u201d (John 15, 14-15).<\/p>\n<p>So, Paul is able to say \u201cBe imitators of me, as I am of Christ\u201d (I Corinthians 11,1) \u2013 and this is what Eugene means when he says that the virtues \u201cshould be obvious in the life of our members.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Always the obligation to retrace Jesus Christ in our persons: We will meditate especially \u2026on the virtues of our Lord Jesus Christ, for these should be obvious in the life of our members.
