This church is situated between Saint Mary Major and Holy Cross of Jerusalem in the middle of the fields where we can no longer find any traces of the magnificent palaces which adorned these places in Roman times\u2026<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>At the lower end of the church, one sees the column to which Saint Bibiana was attached and scourged to death. The cemetery of Pope Saint Anastasius in which were buried three thousand two hundred and sixty martyrs, not counting women and children, is located below the church. What memories, what respect, what devotion these objects inspire!<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>Roman Diary, 2 December 1825, EO XVII<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don&#8217;t have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things &#8211; to compete.
