The Gospel of Luke narrates the response of Mary to the actions and words of her son: \u201c<em>His mother treasured all these things in her heart<\/em>\u201d Luke 2:51.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly Eugene treasured the \u201cvirtues and examples of Jesus Christ\u201d and pondered them in his heart and in this way his \u201cinner vision\u201d would be a source of meaning and of transformation for himself and for others.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>During the day we will also make &#8230; a visit &#8230; to the Blessed Virgin, to whom\u00a0we will all have a special devotion and great affection.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>1818 Rule, Part Two, Chapter One. \u00a75 On prayer and exercises of piety\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Today, Mary continues to be this missionary model :<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>We shall always look on her as our mother. In the joys and sorrows of our missionary life, we feel close to her who is the Mother of Mercy.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>CC&amp;RR, Constitution 10<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Caryll Houselander captured this spirit when she referred to Mary as the \u201cReed of God\u201d through which the music of the Incarnation took flesh.
