“Eugene de Mazenod 101” – an online course

“COME AND I WILL SHOW YOU WHO YOU ARE IN THE EYES OF GOD”

These words come from the first recorded sermon of Eugene de Mazenod as a young priest as he began his ministry to the most abandoned in Aix en Provence. They sum up his whole life as Founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Bishop of Marseilles, and his continuing ministry to us today in the communion of saints.

You can accept his invitation as you learn about him in this online course: “Eugene de Mazenod 101” or “Eugenio de Mazenod 101” presented by the Kusenberger Chair of Oblate Studies at Oblate school of Theology in San Antonio. Your guides are Frank Santucci OMI and David Muñoz Lopez OMI.

2/ To assist you to understand the charism, mission, and spirituality of St. Eugene de Mazenod.

Hi Fr Frank, I have been following the charism of st Eugene very closely it has inspired me very much. And because of this I and my friend we formed a group called YOUNG OBLATE MISSIONARY ASSOCIATES (YOMA) we are under the Zambian delegation we are associates to the Omi’s here in Zambia. We work with the Oblates in reaching out to the poor in the missions of Zambia. It would be great to learn the charism of our found st Eugene de mazenod. And share in charity, charity, charity and outside zeal for the salvation of souls.

  2. John William (Billy) Morell, omi says:

How telling. The first response posted to the official announcement of the “Eugene De Mazenod 101” program comes from Zambia’s YOMI organization.
The program and the organization are in an alliance of Missionary Zeal.
Tell me, is not Eugene smiling?
To the program and the organization, thank you. To Fr Frank and Wilfred, may your efforts grow and bring wild bounty to the harvest to which St Eugene gave his live and energies… and from which his charism springs.
Praise be Jesus Christ ands Mary Immaculate

  3. Luc Tardif says:

Quelle belle initiative. I really wish that the program and material
    be accessible in French.
I write this while we will celebrate tomorrow the death and funerals of one who has done
so much for our knowledge of the founder, Fr, Yvon Beaudoin.
May this project stimulate younger people in getting to desire to know more the
Oblate charism and have a concrete experience of the liveliness of our founder, st. Eugene.

      Dear Father Luc,

Good news! We hope to begin on French on 1 June. The day that we opened this course (in English and French) for registration was the very day Fr Yvon Beaudoin went to the Father. I hope that this initiative will be a small continuation of the legacy he leaves us.

      • Eleanor Rabnett, Oblate Associate says:

I continue to be excited about this course and sharing it with others. I was explaining it last week to my therapist and telling her of the opening line: “COME AND I WILL SHOW YOU WHO YOU ARE IN THE EYES OF GOD”.

Here eyes opened visibly wider with that invitation. This was exactly the effect on myself when I first heard the words from this homily. Who can resist this.

We are going to advertise and encourage it in our parish and our sister parish for all who would be interested. Thank you so much.
