CHOOSE LIFE

The 1813 Rule for the Youth Congregation stated as fundamental attitudes of this group: the choice of living in relationship with Jesus Christ, following his will and way of life, and doing this in communion with the Church. In the fourth section, Eugene insists on their choosing life by being aware of the consequences of sin:

With the help of God, they will take care that in all their behaviour, actions or thoughts they will always avoid offending God gravely in any way.
They will be aware of the horror of sin, so dreadful in itself, and whose consequences are so pernicious; and they will avoid, without hesitation, all which could be an occasion for them to fall into such a dreadful state.

“Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him; for that means life to you.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20 )
